Frequently Asked Questions

How can I incorporate cranberry powder into my diet?

Morbi in sem quis dui placerat ornare. Pellentesque odio nisi euismod in pharetra a ultricies in diam. Sed arcu. Cras consequat.

Why are cranberries a superfood?

Cranberries are widely regarded as a superfood because of their abundant nutrients and antioxidants. Studies have connected these nutrients to reduced urinary tract infection (UTI) risk, potential cancer prevention, enhanced immune system, and lowered blood pressure.

What is the difference between wild-grown and cultivated cranberries?

Organic cranberries, scientifically known as Vaccinium oxycoccos, grow wild in Nordic mountain seeps and wet meadows, while cultivated cranberries, typically Vaccinium macrocarpon, are native to North America and preferred for their larger size. Wild cranberries are smaller and more tart due to their low sugar content. Despite their small size, they pack a punch with abundant nutrients and antioxidants. Research links these Nordic wonders to a lower risk of urinary tract infections, cancer prevention, improved immune function, and decreased blood pressure. With organic wild cranberries, you're not just enjoying a delicious treat but also reaping a plethora of health benefits straight from nature's bounty.

What is freeze-drying?

Freeze-drying is considered the most successful method for food preservation, preserving about 97% of a food’s original nutritional value. It is considered more profitable nutrition-wise than buying imported fresh fruit from the store because freeze-dried foods are harvested in the time they are at the top of their ripeness level and packed with good nutrition. They are immediately frozen, which keeps in all the goodness of the fresh food!

Will this dissolve in water?

The powder does mix with water but please note it would not completely dissolve in it. The powders are all made from whole berries, including their seeds and peels which are built of fiber and fiber doesn’t dissolve in water.

Do I need to store the products in the fridge after opening?

No, this won’t be necessary. The products are best preserved when sealed airtight and stored in a dry, dark and cool place, away from direct sunlight.

Is the powder lab-tested for heavy metals, radiation, harmful substances, contamination?

Yes, it is. All our products are subject to regular lab-testing to be able to guarantee a pure product and to comply with food safety.

Is "wild blueberry" same as "bilberry"?

Yes, in our products we use Vaccinium myrtillus, the European (Nordic) wild blueberry, also called "bilberry". You will find more information on different kinds of blueberries in our blog.

If the blueberries stain your mouth, how long does this last?

The darker berries do stain for their natural anthocyanin content but this wears off in a short time. Eating or drinking any non-staining foods during that time will speed up the process even more.

Are the berries washed?

All our raw berries are sourced from organically certified, clean, growing areas. The berries we use in our freeze-dried products are rinsed with water, primarily this is to remove the possible leaves and other organic bits and the impurity and might have ended up there. There are no chemicals used in washing them.

How many grams of fresh blueberries equals 1 tbsp of powder?

One tablespoon of powder weighs roughly 6 grams. The fruit concentration in case of blueberry is 1:8, meaning it takes 48 grams of fresh wild blueberries to produce 1 tbsp of powder.
